Email Aliases — Create & Manage Anonymous Email Addresses

Email aliases are the core of CloakMetric. An alias is a unique email address that forwards incoming mail to your real inbox and lets you reply without revealing your identity.

  1. Go to Aliases and click Create Alias.
  2. Enter a local part (the portion before the @).
  3. Select a domain — either the shared CloakMetric domain or a custom domain you’ve verified.
  4. Assign a campaign to organize the alias.
  5. Click Create.

Toggle an alias between Active and Inactive:

  • Active — Emails are forwarded and you can send from this alias.
  • Inactive — All incoming emails are silently dropped. The alias still exists but does nothing.

You can toggle status from the alias list or the alias detail view.

Select multiple aliases to perform bulk actions:

  • Activate — Enable all selected aliases.
  • Deactivate — Disable all selected aliases.
  • Delete — Permanently remove all selected aliases.

Configure default behavior for aliases in Settings > Aliases:

  • After X days — Automatically deactivate aliases that are older than a set number of days.
  • After X replies — Automatically deactivate aliases after a certain number of replies.

These rules help you clean up aliases you no longer need without manual intervention.

  • Sender Only — Replies go only to the original sender.
  • Reply All — Replies go to all recipients on the thread.

Set a default campaign for new aliases so you don’t have to select one every time.

Set a per-alias daily email cap (recommended: 50-100) to protect your sender reputation.

Each alias has a health status based on its email activity:

StatusMeaning
HealthyLow bounce and complaint rates. Safe to use.
WarningElevated bounce or complaint rate. Review usage.
RiskyHigh bounce/complaint rate. Consider deactivating.

A score from 0-100 is calculated daily based on:

  • Bounce rate
  • Complaint rate
  • Spam indicators
  • Send volume and patterns

When an alias is flagged as Warning or Risky, CloakMetric shows specific reasons (e.g., “High bounce rate”, “Spam complaints detected”) so you can take targeted action.

Each alias tracks:

  • Emails sent — Total outbound messages
  • Replies received — Total inbound messages
  • Bounces — Failed deliveries
  • Complaints — Spam reports from recipients
  • Last email — Timestamp of most recent activity
  • Created date — When the alias was created
